Tracing back the past

Our country is still new in terms of blogging and creating our own web site in the internet compared to others. But the growth of the numbers of bloggers from hundreds to thousands for the last couple of years is an indication that blogging has a bright future for us. It has a big potential to influence our way of communication in the future.

History tells that blogging in the Philippines was already introduced in year 1995. And the oldest record is currently held by Lauren Dado, a very young ten year old student who uses her blog as personal journal at that time.

But despite the growth and the popularity blogs and putting up your own website wether personal, company related, by media or by other means, the success of each blog and website being created relies heavily on the web-hosting services. And it was only in 2003 that a full-service local Filipino blog hosting was offered dedicated especially for blogs. There were already several other local hosts existing then but according to facts it was plogHost who initiated web hosting particularly for blogs.

And thanks to these people in our history of blogging – blogging has indeed become more easy and user friendly, and can be enjoyed by many even without studying hard core programming.

I believe that the ability of Filipinos to be recognized worldwide in terms blogging and web-hosting is not that far in the future. Filipinos are known to be so talented, there is a good indication that the growth of internet users will bring us at par with the mainstream media in terms of blogging and even with the best US-based web hosting.
